1994-1999 Diploma in Biology at Michoacana of San Nicolas of Hidalgo University, Mexico. (Diploma-Thesis: „Pleistocene Evolution of the Paleolake of Zacapu, based on the Register of the Fossils Diatoms“).

2000-2002 Master in Management and Conservation of Natural Resources, at Michoacana of San Nicolas of Hidalgo University, Mexico. (Master-Thesis: „Environmental Fluctuations of the Patzcuaro Lake in the Quaternary and its relation with the Vulcan-Tectonic Evolution“).

Since 2004 DAAD-Scholarship at the BGBM, Freie Universität Berlin.

Research interests and projects:

  • Diatoms as bioindicators.
  • Taxonomy of diatoms.
  • Changes in the biodiversity of freshwater diatoms.
  • Generating Biological Indicators for Environmental Management: Diatom Indices of the Lerma River Catchment (Mexico).
