Biodiversity Heritage Library – "Ten major natural history museum libraries, botanical libraries, and research institutions have joined to form the Biodiversity Heritage Library Project. The group is developing a strategy and operational plan to digitize the published literature of biodiversity held in their respective collections. This literature will be available through a global “biodiversity commons."
Botanicus Digital Library of the Missouri Botanical Garden Library – "To improve access to scientific literature, we have created Botanicus, a freely accessible, Web-based encyclopedia of digitized 18th and 19th century botanical literature from the Missouri Botanical Garden Library. ... The literature to be digitized in the course of this project will be selected and prioritized based on the frequency of use and scientific importance of the bibliographic references found in TROPICOS, the Missouri Botanical Garden's botanical database. This list was generated by selecting all titles in TROPICOS published before 1925 and totalling the number of vascular (VAST) and bryophyte (MOST) names described in each."
