Research and international collaboration in the field of biodiversity informatics, especially concerning information modeling, metadata standardization, description and design of databases in taxonomy and in the area of biological research collections.

Development and maintenance of the BGBM's research information system. 

Subsection EDP: Technical maintenance of the computer systems and network (incl. procurement, installation, maintenance, and user assistance). 

Subsection Documentation: Graphic design and production of posters, plates, signs, and other materials for public display, in the museum and the garden; typesetting and layout of the in-house publications; design and production of WWW-pages.
