Curriculum
Studies in Biology at the Free University of Berlin, diploma in 1995. Work on a freelance basis in the field of environmental planning, consulting and vegetation mapping 1994-1997. Contracted by the International Association for Plant Taxonomy (IAPT) for implementation and management of the international database project "Registration of Plant Names" 1997-1999. Study of Chinese language at the Free University of Berlin 1999-2001. Principal investigator of a Sino-German plant collecting expedition to the Hengduan Mountains August-October 2000 (granted by the National Geographic Society, Washington D.C. and by the DAAD, German Academic Exchange Service, Bonn). Russian-German botanical-pharmaceutical expedition to Altai Mountains, S Siberia, July-August 2002. Employed at the BGBM as a scientific assistant  for the projects "Med-Checklist - Compositae" from December 2004 to June 2008; for the EU-funded projects EDIT (since January 2007) and PESI (since June 2008). Research stay at Harvard University Herbaria, Cambridge (MA) (Flora of China project, January 2009).

PhD thesis

Systematic revision of Saussurea subgenus Amphilaena (Stschegl.) Lipsch. (Compositae, Cardueae). Includes traditional morphological, cytological, scanning electron microsocopy and molecular techniques.
