Please note: At present the collections are only partly catalogued electronically in the OPAC of the Freie Universität Berlin. 

  • Monographs aquired before 1990 (Biology Library) and 1995 (Library of the BGBM), respectively, are still filed mainly in the conventional catalogues (card indexes).The holdings of the Library of the BGBM acquired before 1990 are, however, also catalogued in the IPAC (Image Public Access Catalogue) of the Berlin Union Catalogue at the Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin (ZLB) [short form of  the library on catalogue cards: "24"; see both "Hauptkatalog" + "Nachmelde Katalog". NB: The catalogue is fine but you have to get used to it; the first result of your search is a name index in which you usually look for your author in vain. This is simply because the index gives the name on every 50th card only. So don't mind and double click on the one name marked in bold. A navigation window appears and allows you to move from you starting point back and forth in the alphabet].

  • Serials are fully catalogued in the OPAC of the Freie Universität. Search is also possible via the German Serials Database ZDB-OPAC.
