205 specimens relevant to the typification of 134 generic and 
specific names in the Ascomycetes, proposed by Nitschke in 
his work ”Pyromycetes germanici” in 1867 and 1870 or valitated 
elsewhere by Otth and Fuckel, are listed.

1. Einleitung

Ein wesentlicher Teil der mykologischen Sammlungen des 
Botanischen Museums Berlin-Dahlem (B) hat den 2. Weltkrieg 
weitgehend unbeschadet überstanden (Hiepko 1978). Zu den 
geretteten Beständen gehört auch ein 1936 aus Münster 
übernommenes Herbar (vgl. Kohlmeyer 1962). Fast das 
gesamte Material besteht aus den von Nitschke bearbeiteten 
und zum überwiegenden Teil auch von ihm selbst in der 
Umgebung von Münster in Westfalen gesammelten Pilzen.
Th. Nitschke, vormals Direktor des Botanischen Instituts der 
Universität Münster, lebte von 1834 bis 1883. Nach den 
Funddaten zu urteilen, liegt seine aktive Zeit als Sammler 
zwischen 1864 und 1869. Zu den Zeitgenossen Nitschkes, die 
ihm Material zur Bearbeitung schickten, gehörten Füisting 
(Münster), Beckhaus (Höxter), Otth (Bern), Fuckel (Rheingau), 
seltener Rehm (Sugenheim in Franken) und Auerswald 
(Leipzig). Außerdem standen Nitschke in Münster die älteren 
Sammlungen von Lasch (Driesen) und Wüstnei (Schwerin) zur 
Verfügung.
Nitschkes Hauptwerk, ”Pyrenomycetes germanici”, war auf 2 
Bände zu je drei Lieferungen konzipiert. Erschienen sind davon 
nur die ersten beiden Lieferungen des 1. Bandes (Nitschke 
1867,1870). Hier finden sich die meisten Neubeschreibungen 
Nitschkes. Daneben wurden zahlreiche ihm zugeschriebene 
Namen in den Arbeiten von Otth (1868) und Fuckel (1870) 
validiert.
Die nomenklatorischen Typen zu den in ”Pyrenomycetes 
germanici” beschriebenen Arten liegen fast vollständig vor, 
überdies offenbar zu einem erheblichen Teil die zahlreichen 
Typusbelege zu Nitschkes in Otths Arbeit veröffentlichten 
Artnamen. Nitschkes Arten aus Fuckels Veröffentlichungen sind 
in Berlin nur durch Exemplare des Exsikkatenwerks ”Fungi 
rhenani” belegt.
Soweit das Typusmaterial nur durch handschriftliche Notizen 
gekennzeichnet war, wurde ihm eine maschinenschriftliche 
Kopie beigefügt. Die oft lückenhaften oder unleserlichen 
Angaben und Abkürzungen wurden anhand der 
Originalveröffentlichungen vervollständigt. In derTypenliste wird 
die Originalbeschriftung in Anführungszeichen wiedergegeben.
Nitschkes Fundorte in der Umgebung von Münster sind 
offenbar zum Teil durch das Wachstum der Stadt zerstört 
worden. Soweit diese auf Meßtischblättern, teilweise aus dem 
Jahre 1895, lokalisiert werden konnten, sind sie anschließend 
mit der Nummer der Karte sowie dem Hoch- und Rechtswert 
(”H” und ”R”) aufgeführt. Meßtischblätter (MTB) ohne 
Jahreszahl sind neuesten Datums.
