Geographical coverage of the BioCISE project

Initially, the BioCISE project was restricted to the members of the European Union (as of 1998) and Israel. Beginning in 1999, the Candidates for EU-Membership, i. e. Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia were included in the survey. In view of the excellent possibilities for co-operation provided by the 5th Framework Programme, the remaining Central and Northern European countries have been included as well.
