  • 1991 doctorate, University of Giessen ("Pollination ecology of Bignoniaceae trees and shrubs in central Brazil").
  • 1991-1995 scientific team leader of projects on fallow ecology in Eastern Amazonia, Brazil.
  • 1995-2001 scientist at the Department of Systematic Botany and Ecology, University of Ulm.
