Abstract
Lomelosia solymica, a plant of montane, sea facing cliffs of the Tahtali Dagi in the Western Taurus Mts south of Antalya is described as a species new to science and illustrated. Its isolated taxonomic position within the genus and its peculiarities, such as the awnless calyx, are discussed. We interpret the latter character within the chasmophytic syndrome and develop the hypothesis that it facilitates dispersal by ants into narrow rock fissures.
