Abstract
Oxytropis iridum is described as a species new to
science from the Inner E Himalaya of the Xizang Autonomous Region. The
new species is well defined by its morphological traits, geographical
distribution and habitat preferences and belongs to the largest and
probably most controversial, typical subgenus of Oxytropis.
It is apparently most closely related to the circumarctic O.
deflexa (Tibet, N Asia, W North America) and to the W
Himalayan endemic O. mollis.
Key words: Fabaceae, Oxytropis deflexa, Oxytropis
mollis, taxonomy, phytogeography, Himalaya.
