  • 2012-2016 PhD about „Hybridisation in bluebells (Hyacinthoides spec.) – Using next-generation sequencing to reconstruct a natural hybrid zone in Spain“ at the Natural History Museum London and Queen Mary University of London
  • 2011-2012 Research assistant at the Natural History Museum London (polyploid evolution in European ferns)
Research interests 
  • Evolution and speciation processes in plants at the phylogenetic and populations genetics level
  • Genome size evolution (esp. ferns and cacti)
  • Developing genetic markers using next-generation sequencing

  • Development of a nuclear marker gene set for phylogenomic analyses of Cactaceae
  • Coordinating the development of a curation management strategy for living collections exemplified for epiphytic cacti and bromeliads in cooperation with the University Heidelberg
