The BGBM's Biodiversity Informatics Section (BDI) conducts research on both the national and international levels. Research areas include information modeling, metadata standardization, description and design of taxonomic databases, and biological research collections. BDI is also responsible for all research information systems within the BGBM, and for the development and maintenance of IT infrastructure. In addition, BDI includes a documentation group, which designs and produces posters, signs and other material for display in the Museum and Garden, and which is responsible for maintenance of the BGBM's web presence.
