Renovation of 14 glasshouses for cultivation

The economic stimulus package, Konjunkturpaket II, was passed by the German Federal Government on 12 January 2009 and proved to be a stroke of luck for the Botanic Garden . A substantial part of the outdated cultivation greenhouses in areas not open to the public could be torn down and replaced by new ones. A total of 14 greenhouses with an overall surface area of approx. 3,300m² have been brought into line technically with the state of the art thus constituting a considerable improvement in terms of functionality, work safety and energy consumption.
